León, Guanajuato is situated at the heart of the Mexican Republic in the Bajío region. It is a place where you can live the old and modern, with an extensive Historic City Center as well as interesting tourist places, recreational and commercial, ideal to visit when you come to the International Balloon Festival 2013. Pedestrian Zone
In the Historical City Centre, main square of the City is closed to vehicular transit, so it is enjoyable to visit walking by the oldest architectural monuments in the City.
Leather Zone
Located in front of León´s bus station; where you will find a big variety of leather goods at excellent prices.
Temple of the Immaculate
Temple of a Catalan Gothic style, with half point neo-Romanesque Arches at the facade. Built between 1901 and 1906. Its stained-glass windows are worth admiring.
The León Metropolitan Cathedral
Dates from 1765 and was refurbished in the XIX century by architect Luis Long. It’s catalogued as the most complete cathedral from the country from that century.
Expiatory Temple
Gothic style. Inside, it has stained- glass windows, 20 altars and beautiful catacombs that can be visited all year around.
León City Hall
It has a beautiful carved stone facade of the neoclassical style. It has murals of the artist Jesus Gallardo at the stairs and upper part.
Manuel Doblado Theatre
Beautiful building, it stages cultural events all year around at its different galleries. It receives events from the Cervantino International Festival every year.
Poliforum León
Convention Centre considered the 2nd largest and important in Latin America.
Forum Cultural Guanajuato
Art and History Museum of Guanajuato and the Theatre of the Forum, the acoustic is ideal for opera, it also has a commercial zone and services.
León Stadium
The home stadium for the León soccer team, located on Adolfo Lopez Mateos Boulevard, between Poliforum and the Cultural Forum of Guanajuato.
León Zoo
It has big extensions and a great variety of animals, it has more than 1,100 individuals of about 180 different species; it also has a Safari. The ecosystem is similar to that of the African Savanna.
Ecological Metropolitan Park of León
It is a protected natural reservoir surrounding Presa del Palote.
Science Centre and Explora Park
An interactive family Science Museum with different interactive exhibits going from the human body to the outer space, water or intelligence. It also features one of the biggest IMAX screens in America.
Plaza Mayor Shopping center
This shopping center is number 5 in size and one of the best nationwide. It has a bowling alley and an ice skating rink, a food court, brand department stores, cafes, casino, car dealers, banks, souvenirs, record shops, restaurants, amongst many more.
